Life Groups

HISTORY & PURPOSE OF LIFE GROUPS AT TBC

Motivated by a desire to fulfill Jesus’ command to make disciples, Truth Baptist Church launched a life group program in June 2016. The intention for each group is to establish a caring, safe environment whereby disciples of Christ can share life’s experiences and encourage one another to grow in faith through each of life’s trials. We believe that making disciples in a relational environment is the model and method shown to us by our Savior Jesus Christ.

Connecting our church family by developing intentional relationships, encouraging spiritual growth, and serving one another in a Biblical framework.

We develop intentional relationships by taking time to hear from each other about requests and praises in a safe place of support. Every group will take time to fellowship and pray and bear one another’s burdens.

We encourage spiritual growth by studying the Bible together. Some groups are using a series on discipleship from the life of Christ with His disciples as presented in the Gospels. Other topics studied include the book of John, the book of Acts, the book of Revelation, and the parables of Jesus among others. Each week the material is discussed through a series of questions intended to bring out the “Head” (background), “Heart” (understanding), and “Hands” (application) of each story. We have many testimonies of rich discussions that challenge, comfort, and encourage believers.

We serve one another in a Biblical framework by praying for each other during the week and helping each other as needs arise. We seek to practice the “one-anothers” of the Christian life in our life group community.

We currently have 6 active Life Groups meeting in homes, at church, and on Zoom. Meeting times are typically weekdays from 6:30 – 8:00 PM or 7:00 – 8:30 PM.

Trusting in the blessing of God through obedience to His Word, we hope and expect to expand our group number. Currently, group sizes vary from 10-20 people. We like the number of people in a group to be small enough for each person to be heard and to learn from the collective wisdom of the group.
