August 22nd Update

Dear TBC Family & Friends,

Sunday morning we are looking at probably the central heart section of 2 Timothy.   Paul has been building toward this essential and powerful paragraph in which he exhorts Timothy and us to move from new disciples to mature servants of God who can be trusted to keep God purpose for our lives constantly before us.  This passage contains one of the most familiar verses in the Bible which you should work at memorizing if you have not already done so.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16–17

Sunday evening we have a great series using a 4 minute video to create a dilemma about the way people who haven’t met Christ people think.  Then another 10 minute video that give a philosophical and Biblical answer to the dilemma.  The topic is “Does God exist?”  Our discussion focuses on helping us to be able to give good answers to our children and those we are trying to reach.  We should be constantly trying to improve our ability to accomplish the goal of the believer and the church to “reach and train reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ.”

The Sunday after Labor Day we are launching a special series – True Spirituality.  The goal is to learn how God truly thinks and how to be truly pleasing and fruitful to God and for God.  We will be focusing on the verse,”that no flesh should glory in His presence.” 1 Corinthians 1:29.  I trust you will memorize that verse and meditate on it in its context in preparation for that series.

1.  Sunday School promotion is happening on September 6th at 9:15am in the auditorium.  If your child is moving to 1st grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, 7th grade, or 10th grade, please reply to this email with your child’s name and grade so we can get your kids properly promoted.  :) We are also planning to transition back to in-person Sunday School classes (with a Zoom option as well) on September 6th.  If you have any questions, please contact Melanie.
